How long does it take to sterilize with steam?

We live in a day and age where hygiene and cleanliness are some of the most important things to consider as we go about our daily lives. With the pandemic giving everyone more reason to worry about health and safety, sanitation has never been more important.

When it comes to disinfecting surfaces, especially those of medical tools, sterilizing with steam continues to play a crucial role in helping medical professionals keep their tools clean and corona-free.

Sterilizing with steam takes about 15-30 minutes when saturated steam heated at 121-132 degrees Celsius is used. It’s usually a hassle-free process that guarantees the sanitation of all your tools.

What happens when you sterilize with steam?

Sanitizing with steam involves heating up water to high temperatures using a steaming device, usually referred to as an autoclave. When heated, the vapour is dispersed into the air/onto the target surface using a simple vapour dispersion pump. Steam is highly effective against germs and bacteria because of its heat – disease-causing particles cannot survive under the extreme heat of the vapour.

Why use a steamer over other sterilization methods?

In a previous blog post, we highlighted a few of the pros and cons of using steaming devices to sterilize your tools and space, you can check it out here. Steamers are highly effective, non-destructive devices that you can use without harming your belongings or the environment. Sterilizing with steam is an easy, time-saving process and is much more affordable than alternatives such as chemical fumigation.
